Pipes are tubular product used to convey a medium such as water, air, gases, liquids, liquidized solids or slurries. Industrial steel pipes are those installed across industries involved in extraction, manufacturing and transportation of commercial items such as steam, air, water, oil, gas, minerals, petroleum and intermediary products, industrial waste, chemicals, etc.
Pipes are made of many materials including metals such as titanium, nickel, molybdenum, tantalum, zirconium, aluminium, copper, bronze, etc., metallic alloys such of mild steel, carbon, alloy steel, weathering steel, stainless steel, high nickel based alloys like Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, Incoloy, Nimonic, Nitronic, etc., Pipes are also constructed of non-metallic material such as rubber, plastic, engineered polymers including PVC, PUC, PTFE, etc.,
Due to wide range of applications and globalization, materials and dimensions of these pipes are standardized by various international organizations such as ASTM, DIN, BS, EN, ISO, SAE, BIS, GOST, JIS, etc. Ferrobend is capable of supplying steel pipes across all of the above mentioned materials across all major national and international standards and specifications.
As the name suggests is a pipe without a seam or a weld-joint in contrast to Seam or Welded pipe. Seamless pipe can withstand large pressure as compared to a seam / welded pipes.
ERW Pipes are manufactured by method of electric resistance welding. Though weaker than seamless, ERW pipes are good options for low pressure and civil applications.
External high energy electric arc is used to create a weld joint. Once the welding is done, the excess weld material from outside and inside of the pipe is removed. EFW is better than ERW.
Forged pipes have finer grain and higher strength as compared to as cast, as rolled ones. Forged pipes have applications in high pressure lines with limitation in lengths and sizes.
This standard covers dimensions and tolerance for carbon steel and alloy steel pipes in seamless and welded construction. Size ranges from 1/8 inch upto 60 inch nominal pipe diameter with Schedule 5 to XXS in wall thickness.
This standard covers dimensions and tolerance for stainless steel pipes in seamless and welded construction. Size ranges from 1/8 inch upto 24 inch nominal pipe diameter with Schedule 5S, 10S, 40S and 80S in wall thickness.
